Round One
They kicked off with an explosive start.  Southpaw John rushed Rhadi and took him straight to the canvas before landing in Rhadi’s half guard.
4.41: They rolled and tumbled as Rhadi attempted a heel hook.
4.32: John seized Rhadi’s back.
4.14: Richard connected with left hooks from Ferguson’s back.
4.04: Richard tied up Ferguson’s right arm and went for the choke.
3.44: John had his hooks in from Rhadi’s back.
3.01: Rhadi twisted himself into John’s open guard, then commenced his g’n’p campain.
0.37: The ref deducted one point from Richard for repeatedly dropping his mouth guard.  He weathered Rhadi’s g’n’p assault up to the hooter.

Round Two
4.14: Richard delivered an inside kick that stunned Ferguson; Richard charged in and pounded from Ferguson’s guard.
3.32: Ferguson locked onto Richard’s right leg for a knee bar/heel hook combo.  Richard tapped.

Result: Rhadi Ferguson by heel hook – 2.00, Round Two.

 

 

 


 

 

Amanda Nunes (5’8”, 143 lbs) vs. Julia Budd (5’7, 144 lbs)
Women’s Middleweight

They touched gloves.  Amanda inside-kicked and threw a right hand.  She repeated the formula, then unloaded a volley of lefts and rights, downing Julia and finishing her with right hammer fists.

Result: Amanda Nunes by TKO – 0.14, Round One.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

 

Daniel Cormier (5’11”, 249 lbs) vs. Devin Cole (6’4”, 239 lbs)
Heavyweight

Round One
Both men faced off in orthodox stance.  Devin worked his jabs and avoided the clinch.
4.32: Daniel banged out a leg kick.
4.28: He unleashed an overhand right.
4.26: They clinched.
3.56: Devin broke free.
3.52: Daniel impacted with a front kick.
3.47: They tied up before Cormier got the takedown and side control.
3.19: Cole had Cormier in half guard.
2.59: Cole scrambled to his feet with Cormier clinging to his back.
2.44: They clinched against the cage.
1.05: They separated.
0.59: Daniel caught Devin with a huge overhand right that Devin shrugged off.
0.33: Daniel notched up another takedown and fought from Devin’s guard.

Round Two
4.53: Cormier leg-kicked.
4.35: They tied up before Cormier took Cole down and grabbed half guard.
3.59: Cole was pinned to the fence and being peppered by his opponent.
3.32: Cormier mounted Cole, they scrambled, and Cormier took side control.
2.43: Daniel was back in half guard and banging.
1.59: He grabbed side control.
1.20: Daniel had Devin’s back.
0.37: Devin pulled Daniel into half guard and attempted a kimura on Daniel’s left arm before the hooter sounded.

Round Three
4.42: Cormier leg-kicked.
4.04: They clinched and kept trading.
3.18: The ref separated them.
2.58: Cole avoided a takedown and sprawled.  They scrambled, and Cormier took Cole’s back.
2.37: The pair stood in the clinch and exchanged blows.
1.43: The ref parted them.
1.27: They tied up.
1.13: Daniel got the takedown and stayed in half guard as the pair swapped blows.

Result: Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision.

 

 


 

 

Ovince Saint Preux (6’3”, 205 lbs) vs. Abongo Humphrey (5’11”, 205.5 lbs)
Light Heavyweight

Round One
Southpaw Ovince caught Abongo with a left hand in the opening seconds.
4.47: They exchanged knuckles, then Ovince kicked to the midsection before they crashed to the floor with Ovince in guard.
4.20: Ovince progressed to half guard.
3.15: Abongo failed with his kimura attempt before Ovince snatched side control.  He tried to mount Abongo; however Abongo stood, took Ovince down, and went for a knee bar.
1.39: Saint Preux escaped the submission, secured mount position, and went for an arm triangle.
0.18: Humphrey survived the choke but was still mounted.

Round Two
4.35: Humphrey took Saint Preux’s high kick on the mitts.  They banged it out before OSP overpowered Humphrey and fell into open guard, with Humphrey pressed into the wires.
3.33: The ref wanted more action and stood them up.
3.22: Humphrey got an attitude rush and unleashed a salvo of fists and knees.
3.09: Saint Preux survived the onslaught and took Humphrey down.
2.16: Ovince g’n’ped from Abongo’s guard, then half guard.
1.09: The ref restarted them.
0.58: OSP scored with knees and Abongo tried to knock OSP’s block off with sledgehammer fists.
0.40: Ovince didn’t like the banging exchange and shot for Abongo’s legs.  Abongo wrapped on the guillotine before the round ended.

Round Three
4.38: They traded and clinched.
4.26: Humphrey chalked up a takedown; however Saint Preux landed back in Humphrey’s guard.
3.27: The ref jump-started them.
3.07: Humphrey high-kicked. They clinched, tumbled, and Humphrey refitted the guillotine.
1.33: Saint Preux’s head was free as he fought from guard.
1.04: The ref stood them up.
0.46: Both men kicked; Abongo fell to the mats and OSP grabbed half guard.  The hooter pulled up play.

Result: Ovince Saint Preux by unanimous decision.

 

 


 

 

Tyron Woodley (5’9”, 170 lbs) vs. Tarec Saffiedine (5’10”, 170 lbs)
Welterweight

Referee: Greg Franklin

Round One
Prior to this main event, Tarec was described by ring announcers as possessing “a takedown defense second to none.”  But Tyron’s takedowns would prove to be a dominating factor in this bout.
5.00: Tarec is in southpaw and Tyron is on orthodox.  They spar before Tyron clinches at 4.28, and close-quarter strikes are exchanged from the tie up.
3.40: Tyron takes Tarec down and fights from open guard.
3.09: Saffiedine manages to return them to their feet in the clinch.
1.12: The ref separates them.  They spar.
0.31: Woodley clinches.

Round Two
Saffiedine attacks with kicks.
4.35: Woodley ties them up.
3.32: He takes Saffiedine down and attacks from open guard.
2.26: Saffiedine fails with a triangle and pulls Woodley into half guard, then open guard.  Saffiedine wants it vertical; Woodley keeps it horizontal.

Round Three
They trade blows before clinching again.
4.13: They briefly break free.
4.06: Tyron shoots in and takes it back down.
3.46: Tarec scrambles and gets side control.
3.15: They’re standing in the clinch.
2.27: Tyron gets the takedown. They stalemate on the ground.
1.27: Tarec climbs to his feet with Tyron hanging on.
1.07: The ref parts them.
0.47: Tyron clinches.

Result: Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision.
