MATT HUGHES
|
©Marc Wickert "It will be tough. Frank is a hard-nosed guy. I don’t think he can really beat me anywhere as far as I think I’m a better striker than he is. I think I’m actually a better wrestler than he is. I’m real sure I’m better at submissions than he is. But anything can happen, and he’s one of those guys who could hit me and hurt me. click to continue feature story |

2004 Zuffa LLC David likes to specialise in elbow and knee strikes, and in round two of their match, he caught Charles with flying knees to end the fight. He attributes these skills to his Muay Thai background: "I train a lot in Thai boxing, and there are a lot of elbows and knees in that discipline. That’s one thing I’m very good at - after punching." click to continue feature story |

Eventually Wojtek wanted to progress more with the fighting arts and he commenced training in mixed martial arts: “With Tae Kwon Do and Karate, obviously they’re not really full contact, so I guess it matured into where I got good enough at it and I liked it so much that – it wasn’t about hitting people, but about going up to the next level, which was full-contact stuff, like kickboxing.

“Your muscles and body have to be conditioned for what you are doing. I’m not getting ready for a track meet – I’m getting ready for a fight and for going to the ground. You get a kickboxer and you grapple with him for three minutes, and he’s done. You get a wrestler and you make him stand up for three minutes, and he’s done. You’ve got to be conditioned for everything in this sport.

DAN
‘THE OUTLAW’ HARDY “I’m
Looking Forward to Trying Them Out on His Face.”
|

Marc Wickert www.knucklepit.com 5 Sept. ’06 ‘The Outlaw’ says it’s the Thai influence that has added the extra sting to his game: “I’ve started using elbows a lot more and I’m having success with them, so I am concentrating on them – particularly for my next fight. But in the past I’ve focused on my kicks more because I started with a TKD background and I’m quite flexible and explosive. |

|
© Marc Wickert Despite his success in various fighting tournaments, such as UFC and Canada’s TKO submission fighting, Georges’s reputation did not make him a target for troublemakers wanting to challenge the MMA star while he worked the Quebec clubs.
