9th Edition
November 21, 2008
Live from the Ice Palace in St Petersburg, Russia

Team South Korea vs. Team Red Devil
Nam Yui-Chul vs. Mikhail Malyutin
Do-Hyung Kim vs. Erik Oganov
Min-Seok Heo vs. Dmitry Samoilov
Seung-Bae Whi vs. Mikhail Zayats
Jong-Whang Kim vs. Kirill Sidelnikov

Highlights: Red Devil’s five-man team has remained intact throughout the M-1 Challenge.  Will all this action make them battle weary or will they continue successfully like a battle-tested army?  Forget nail biting – Seung-Bae Whi vs. Mikhail Zayats has you chewing up to your elbows!  In the heavyweight division, Kirill Sidelnikov illustrates how damaging a giant reputation can be.

Round 18

Team Holland vs. Team Russia Legion
Bogdan Christea vs. Musa Khamamaev
Romano de los Reyes vs. Magomed Shikshabekov
Jason Jones vs. Ansar Chalangov
Kamil Uygun vs. Besike Gerinava
Jessie Gibbs vs. Ahmed Sultanov

Highlights: Gilbert Yvel is in Holland’s corner to spur on his fellow countrymen.  The first bout sees the tough Dutchman, a man who refuses to tap, locking horns with the undefeated Russian, and this becomes a very heated showdown.  The end of the second match shows there’s no love lost between the Dutch and the Russians.  Then the combatants in the third fight seem to have more escapes than the St Petersburg Fire Department.  Russian Legion needs no less than four victories tonight to advance to the finals, so the red heat is on as match four goes into overtime.  The evening finishes with a huge amount of pressure on both heavyweights.

Round 19

10th Edition
November 26, 2008
Live from Kisahalli in Helsinki, Finland

Team Finland vs. Team France
Niko Puhakka vs. Maktar Gueye
Janne Tulirinta vs. Farouk Lakebir
Lucio Linhares vs. Karl Amoussou
Marcus Vanttinen vs. Christian M’Pumbo
Toni Valtonen vs. Moussa Niang

Highlights: The judges call for overtime after the first two rounds of the opening bout; however, by contrast, the second match quickly comes to a screeching halt.  And the middleweights need no cranking up as they come out firing as the bad blood flows.  Bout four ends with a rear naked choke that’s sunk in deeper than Davy Jones’s Locker, and Moussa Niang chooses a tough way to make his debut in MMA.

Round 20

Team Spain vs. World Team
Jose Luis Zapater vs. Juha-Pekka Vainikainen
Jose Beltran Martinez vs. Jason Ponet
Rafael Rodrigues Gutierre vs. Jordan Radev
Enoc Solves vs. Valdas Pocevicius
Rogent Lloret vs. Michael Kita

Highlights: Bout one finishes with a bang and the welterweight match starts as a sparring session, but the pace drastically escalates before one competitor is caught in a nasty toe-hold submission. The heavyweight division closes the night with a spectacular arm bar.

Superfight

A thrilling heavyweight superfight between Spain’s Daniel Tabera and Red Devil’s Roman Zentsov brings to a close an amazing year of MMA.

M-1 Global’s 2008 Challenge is a thrilling competition, packed with plenty of KOs, perfectly executed sambo takedowns, and bone-wrenching submissions, as these incredible gladiators of MMA give their all and work their way into your heart throughout the season.
